Internationalization is in full swing for us and we are pleased to now also be represented in the USA with our own location. Our choice fell on Charleston, South Carolina. From there we have good access to the port because of the proximity to Daniel Island, so we can also ship products. So these are ideal conditions to achieve several goals at once.
USA trip for site opening
First, we want to use the location as a warehouse so we can deliver a selection of frequently requested LUTZ solutions to customers throughout the U.S. via short routes. We thus ensure availability and fast transport routes. On the other hand, we would like to intensify contacts with our customers in general. That’s why LUTZ Managing Director Christian Knöppel and Sales Manager Jan Uellenberg paid a special visit to the new location for the opening. So they could not only wish our new colleague Lindsay Osbon a good start. The USA trip also provided the perfect opportunity to meet customers in person and conduct various product tests on site.
At home in the American blade market
Lindsay Osbon has become our expert at the new location for good reason. As our new Sales Manager for the USA and Canada, he brings 28 years of experience in manufacturing (textile, paper converting, safety equipment) and sales in the USA and Canada. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife Tyler (and their dog Mr. Mellow). He is delighted to be able to ship blades directly from Solingen to the port of Charleston to store them in the USA and thus supply existing and new customers quickly and easily. As a sales representative for many years, he knows our products and company philosophy very well. In addition, he is at home in the American market for industrial blades and enjoys a high level of trust among customers. His trade fair highlights for 2024 include TechTextil (technical textiles) North America, Pack Expo International, Chicago (packaging), the NSH (histology) show for microtome blades and, of course, MEDICA in Düsseldorf!
We are excited that he will continue to be an integral part of the LUTZ team and help make the new location a success.
Already three locations
The USA has now been added as the third location. And for good reason: LUTZ BLADES produces over 100 million blades a year, of which about two-thirds are exported – to Europe and beyond. In addition to our corporate headquarters and first production site, we have had another plant in Nysa, Poland, for more than 30 years. For more information, please visit our location page.
